How can it be a scam? It's a way of fulfilling orders. What is a scam is people trying to sell courses on it.
True, was actually referring to courses being scammy.... but also anyone endorsing dropshipping in 2020 as a way to make money is misleading.
Just think of some economics....
There are millions of online stores.. an online store isn't like a PicknPay nearby that a person drives / walks to cause its nearby and convenient.. Online, you have the option of bringing those millions of stores to you.
That's where developing your own reputation / brand comes in handy, as it will immediately distinguish you from the rest, perhaps your own product / niche, eg vegan yoga mats and specifically target Green Point / Sandton trust fund kids.
Just being another store, that sells the same items as all the other stores in an already saturated market, competing for the lowest prices is gonna be extremely tough to enter and turn your first sale.
You gonna have to lots spend a of time and money on marketing to drive traffic and hopefully 3% (US avg conversion rate is 1.8%) of all your traffic will buy something.
Loads of dropshippers will talk about their $100,000 in sales.... but no one will tell you that it cost them $99,500 or $150,000 to get there.... Most never turn a profit.
Do your own research and decide for yourself....
