Hi all

I am not sure if anyone here has dealt with drop-shipping before?? I have started to order stuff for friends and have them drop shipped. I used to order a LOT of stuff from overseas. However, NOW, it appears that stuff is being held back for customs checks. It used to go to my PO Box and now all i get is a notification that I must go to the PO on Jones Rd. This is WAY out of my way AND it asks for a copy of the invoice.

This is all fine EXCEPT if I sell to a stranger i must provide them with the original invoice which is NOT ini my best interest and if it is for me travelling to Boksburg every time is a pain.

Is there another way of doing this??

Thanks in advance for any direction, comment or suggestion.

Deal Extreme uses drop shipping. All it means is they remove the DX logos from the packaging and send it from "general" addresses. Customs will intercept anything they like especially if they think the value stated on the packaging is incorrect or there is no invoice attached to the outside which prevents them from calculating your duties.

With capemail down here I can fax them a copy of the invoice along with the SA tracking number and then will then process the duties and ship the package on to my nearest post office, where I then pay on collection. If you have been receiving the notices then you will also know that you can only receive 2 gifts a year for R400 or less, thereafter you need to pay duties and VAT.

That's the way it works!

Hey Morkhans, that's no issue - i will pay duties and VAT without a problem BUT you say you use "capemail" - is that a service? Also, I have calculated basic rates and included in my pricing s- VAT and duties and the R30 clearance I will cover it's the collection or need for an invoice when collecting that is a problem. Would i fax invoce etc direct to this office - they don't even answer the telephone!!??

Thanks again.

p.s. i haven't had anything sent as a gift and am keeping this above board

Capemail is the main post office distribution point for Cape Town and surrounds which includes customs, this is where my parcels get held pending invoice. They are good enough to send me the details of what I need to supply them along with a fax number with the notice. Once faxed it takes about 1-2 days for the package to be released to my nearest post office.

The centre where your package gets held up should be able to offer a similar option.

Hey morkhans

I managed to get through via phone and the woman i spoke to gave me the email details and said to email the invoice with RI details and it will be released to the PO it was heading to. So i have sent the necessary with shelf No We'll see soon i guess :) do they confirm when it is released?

Just check on the track&trace system. The details will change once the package is sent on.

Thanks again for your assistance. It is MUCH appreciated.
