The free allocation that came with my HTC One X ended the other day. Now I am faced with the fresh news that th 23GB from Note 8 is also due to go by the wayside.

I had honestly always expected that they would somehow keep these going.

What happened to your data? Is it still accessible? Were you given fair warning about the date of termination?

Why would you think the complimentary storage would continue indefinitely? Box, Google Drive and Mega have better prices than Dropbox, so go with them rather if you're going to pay for online storage.

One Drive is my current choice of cloud storage. 25GB is nothing to scoff at.
G Cloud is good for mobile backup. 10GB there.
Sometimes use Google Drive. Also got quite a bit of space there but not sure how much.

Never made use of the free space offered on Dropbox with new supported devices purely because it would end one day.

the drop in the facilities doesn't affect me.

i hoped dropbox would play ball and keep these accounts at their numbers, i had seen nothing to suggest they would so i've been multi-syncing with dropbox and onedrive / google.

the one thing i will miss will dropbox is the ease of use of sync with my linux boxes. i don't like solutions which are workarounds.

So now I'm waiting for my free 50gb from the S4 to expire one day, good thing I haven't had to use it. Im happy with Microsoft's Onedrive enough free storage for my needs

I also received an email today saying that my promotional 2GB dropbox storage (HTC promotion) will expire soon. Luckily I still have my S4 50GB promotion going until next year. Apparently your existing files over your new maximum limit stays intact until you delete them. Which basically means that I can fill up my dropbox with 52GB of photos to archive my pics and keep them there for eternity as long as I dont delete them. :)
