Dropbox Sign hacked

Dropbox Inc. said its digital signature product, Dropbox Sign, was breached by hackers, who accessed user information, including emails, user names and phone numbers.

The software company said it became aware of the cyberattack on 24 April, sought to limit the incident and reported it to law enforcement and regulatory authorities.

Insider information is a big plus

That is what causes multiple withdrawals from customer's bank accounts. A multiple "tap to pay" fraud caught not only my daughter for R17k, but also 15 (at least) other customers of ABSA Bank in November 2022. ABSA bent over backwards to deny responsibility, but the truth came out

It occurred during a so-called Systems Update at ABSA

I guess those people that were "mocked" that offline backup is best, I don't trust the cloud, are now dinning lekker on key lime pie?
Wrong product

Ja - where can I buy a tape drive and tapes?

I don't know how some not too clued-up IT peeps always disses tapes. They are either using it wrong or don't know how to test backups. Tape remains a very valid backup medium.

Companies also divest too soon, by completely transitioning to the cloud. You need to retain some essential on-premises components to be hybrid, in case, not only downtime strikes, but disaster too. It is the marketing push, cloud above all else.

Your data belongs with us, not onsite. Companies, and people, need to build their own clouds in addition to. Though this require expertise.

It shows that no company out there is safe! If they want to get in, they will, it's just a matter of time...
