Anybody using the Blackberry app? If so, does this app use BIS for uploading/downloading data?

I can't get it to work with the BIS apn, I have to change the apn to "internet". So I suspect it is outside BIS atm, or it's a Dropbox issue.

Must be a problem with you phone as i had the internet apn removed from my handset because i was being charged for data usage and only re-enabled it about 3 weeks ago, long after i started beta testing dropbox. I can assure you it runs through BIS so have a look @ your phone configuration and also take note that it has trouble with 3G, i cannot get it to work if my phone is connected on 3G. For battery purposes and the fact that i seldom need the 3G speed my handset is forced to use 2G, i discovered the 3G thing as i had turned it on for an appworld download and rite after went into DB and it would not work. Set it down to 2G and worked fine.

You never specified your phone but i have not tested but its possible it works with the internet apn on 3G and not 2G for some reason.

Bold 9700

I just tested it again. On the "blackberry.net" apn it doesn't work on either 2G or 3G - it just hangs. When I change to "internet" apn it works perfectly - but sans BIS of course.

Any setting suggestions?

I was told bu vodaocm to not use that apn and just leave it blank, at that time when i tried it it did not work. today i tried it again and that apn worked, tested dropbox and no problems so i am not sure.

Yep i can confirm that it works via BIS on my BB 9700 with blank apn, i use it all the time.

Ah, the blank apn may be the issue. IIRC I originally used the blackberry.net apn to ensure that all traffic is BIS, in other words you don't ever have to worry about any app not using BIS. Make sense?

I am currently using blackberry.net APN on MTN Blackberry. So the app won't work with these settings?

The app doesn't seem to provide much more than the mobile web interface, apart from editing simple text files in place it seems.

In the app you can't actually download a file to your phone - I wanted to get my Keepass file on my phone and went for the web interface instead.

But as to the current topic here, going through the web interface will probably definitely use BIS :)
