Drug probe nets top cops

A top cop credited with the arrest of an international drug lord has himself been arrested for alleged drug dealing.

West Rand Organised Crime head Senior Superintendent Dumisani Jwara was arrested on Monday along with two of his captains following an investigation that started two years ago.

It is not clear whether the trio will be charged with drug trafficking, but the case against them, Golding said, included fraud and racketeering.

She said the suspects were part of a "fully fledged syndicate", working with other officers who had access to the seized drugs.

A good start! Hopefully all those other corrupt officials are breaking into a sweat now.

Golding called the arrests a major victory as the officers had betrayed those they had sworn to protect.

I would agree, I hope these buggers share a cell with some of the inmates they've helped put there.

Good, its about time we saw moves against corrupt cops

I have worked with the cops before.. and I liked quite a few of them. I thought that these guys were good guys.. Suffice to say that eventually when I found out they were corrupt, it was disappointing. But there were others.. guys who have been in the police for years. These guys are go getters and know their stuff. There are good cops out there, and they guys that did this work are some of them.
