DSL Connection Status

Hi all

Just joined the forum.

My Linksys has the following status

DSL Status: Connected
DSL Modulation Mode: MultiMode
DSL Path Mode: Interleaved
Downstream Rate: 381 kbps
Upstream Rate: 124 kbps
Downstream Margin: 31 db
Upstream Margin: 13 db
Downstream Line Attenuation: 24 db
Upstream Line Attenuation: 6 db
Downstream Transmit Power: 16777211 db
Upstream Transmit Power: 13 db

The RED highlighted figure is worrying. I must say that my line had to be repaired after the lightning struck it and actually blew it apart. Telkom tech just joined it up again. I suspect the line is still damaged or the join isn't done properly and is affecting line quality.

Should I get them to check it out, or is there something I can do?

You can log a problem with Telkom and request that they test your line onsite.

Cool, thanks froot. Does that figure look suspicious? Looks OVERLY large to me.

There you will find a tester.

You can get a pretty accurate result there. Off course it won't indicate what the problem is, but it will let you know if there is a problem (it might very well be a 'weirdness' - I got some with a past Telkom router).
