Do Telkom do credit checks when applying for a line installation?

Surely not since the line installation is paid for up front and if you don't pay your monthly rental costs, they simply deactivate the line itself.
Kinda like DSTV. You pay for the hardware and installation up front then if you don't pay your subscription, they just cut the feed.

Yeah, sorry about that. I was reading around and just asked the question. Forgot to check which section I was in. Any admins around to move it accordingly?.

I'm asking specifically for the installation though, not the monthly rental.

Reply remains the same. What are you wanting to do with the line? If to be used with waya-waya then no credit check. For any other service, eg POTS or ADSL, credit check.

They do a itc credit check before creating the account. They don't see the installation and rental as separate charges when creating a new account, since both will be charged on a single account.

100% correct, except for waya-waya.

So I don't suppose I can use this 'waya-waya' thing for DSL?

What you can do is apply for a normal line, and if you don't qualify due to the credit check, they might ask you to pay a deposit and they'll probably put a limit on your account.
