Hi,

I need help.

I have the following setup:

- Telkom Mega 200 VWR Wireless Router
- 4096 Kbps line
- Axxess Semi-shaped
- Windows 7
- Realtek onboard network card

When the PC boots up, the router syncs and everything is fine, I can log into the router at 10.0.0.2 and surf the internet 100%.

My "Local Area Connection" status reads:
IPv4 Connectivity: Internet
IPv6 Connectivity: No network access
Media State: Enabled
Speed: 100.0 Mbps

But after a while (could be 10 minutes, could be 2 hours), the internet connection is no longer available. The "Local Area Connection" reports "network cable unplugged", and IPv4 Connectivity reads: "no network access.

I am then unable to access the router on 10.0.0.2 or surf the net, although the router still seems to be synced (orange PPP light remains lit).

In order to access the web again, I must either reboot the PC or disable and enable the "Network adapter - Local Area Connection", where after connection is established until it decided to disconnect again.

There is no pattern which I could found for the disconnects, and it seems to be intermittent and random.

Does anyone have any experience in this behavior or have some advise, maybe I can try different things to try and resolve the issue (troubleshoot).

Regards

that happened to me and after all the trouble it was my line... had to drop to a 2 Mb line since then no problemo works 100% fine

Try a laptop or another pc, preferably a friend one to trouble shoot whether it is the line or the pc. It kinda sounds to me like the network card or the settings on the network card.

Purchase a wireless dongle if you are unable to test with a different pc, it is relatively cheap(+/-R250 from Telkom CSB) and try surfing wireless.

+1 - sounds like your PC/Network card might be at fault. Probably not the line because you are unable to access the router.

This sounds more like an adapter problem than a DSL issue. Check you adapter driver if it is windows 7. If possible, revert back to the default driver provided with Win 7, and NOT the one provided by windows update. I have an intel card, and the driver from windows update gave me serious headaches. I had to revert back to the driver that shipped with Win 7. Also, if possible, plug into a standalone switch, and see if your lan still disconnects.

Thanks good idea. I will borrow my wife's notebook to test.

I noted the following:
Driver Provider: Realtek
Driver Date: 5/22/2009
Driver Version: 7.3.522.2009

Will check alternative drivers.

You have a point there. I rolled back to:
Driver Provider: Microsoft
Date: 2/26/2008
Version: 7.2.1127.2008
Signer: Microsoft Windows

Been connect for 2 hours 56 already and counting.

Get your router changed.... Telkom routers are crap...

I had the same problem, tested my router with another pc and laptop and results were same... Finally got the router changed and now everything works fine...

Telkom routers come with 2yr warranty so if u fall within the warranty, get it changed...

Get the new D-Link router that telkom is selling now
