Hey guys. Sometime during a thunderstorm on Thursday my line went dead. There was a lightning strike pretty close so maybe that's the cause. The thing that puzzles me is that my phone is still working. I asked a friend who is connected to the same MSAN and he said his line is working perfectly.

What could be the cause?

Not too sure. But mine also went down on Thursday and still down. Phone line is still working.

I logged a ticket and waiting ...

voice and DSL really 2 seperate connections at the exchange. If you have tested with another modem, or tested your's elswhere, or both then it might be best to report a fault

fault report sms: 30591
sms only:

faulty
(followed by your 10 digit phone number)

................
then you wait for an automated response.
after that you either get called or get a sms containing the fault number.

a lot easier that waiting to be answered.

The same thing happened to me once, it was the POTS filter that popped. Maybe yours has blown too.

Don't have a spare one but I can go buy one. I tired plugging it in without a filter and it still doesn't work. Doesn't it normally still at least work a bit without a filter?

it will work until you use the phone, or it rings.

Hmm. So I guess the problem isn't with the filter. That's a pity

send that SMS if you have not yet. It is now late, but during their working hours you will have your fault number in about 30min, often within 5-10min.

Do you plug your ADSL in the pots filter ? I thought ADSL is unfiltered and phone is on the filter :wtf:

This is correct .
Suggest you try another modem ,
If you are indeed on a MSAN/ISAM then it is one entity , but if you are on the old DSLAMs then the port in the DSLAM is shot if you have tried a working modem .
