Which line should i get 4mb OR 384K??
I would be using my line for online gaming, mostly for dota and some mmorpg?
Maybe some left4dead and cod4?
 
384k is more than enough for online gaming I'd say, 4MB would be overkill, but thats just my opinion :)
 
4MB lines get lower latency. Not because of the DSL part of the connection, but because of the size of the fibre portion allocated to them at the DSLAM.

If you're getting > 60ms LAG to SAIX hosted servers on a 384 line, then you'll have to switch to a 4MB line to improve your latency. But, if you're sub-60ms, then, SCORE!

Remember, it costs a small fortune to downgrade (R380 or something), but, it's free to upgrade, so try the smaller line first.
 
go for 4mbit, lower latency for online gaming. I used to have 384 and my latency was >100ms now it is always <50ms.

If you have the cash go for 4mbit but otherwise 384kbit will do fine although not the best.
 
Off topic, but is it just me or does online gaming eat my cap up like 1gb an hour? Excluding mmorpgs, I mean games like armed assault and battlefield 2.. I can barely afford the 4gb I pay for per month.
 
i use about +50mb an hour on left 4 dead incl voice chat on my 4mbps line. with a latency of about 15ms average on IS and SAIX servers.
 
If you have the bucks go for a 4MB line, otherwise a 384 is fine. I've played loads of online games with my 384 - no problems.

Also use about 50mb an hour.

If your downloading a gig an hour then you forgot to stop your torrents :)
 
there is R80 difference between a 512 and 4 mb line ..... so it is either super fast or 384 k line will work just well for the price. :->
 
Go for 384 first. I used to play a host of online games 100% on a 384 line. The problem only comes in when you have more than 1 person using the line at the same time. So if its just you then 384 but if its more than 1 person go 4mb.
 
384 is fine... Unless you want to download/browse and play games at the same time, then you want the 4 meg line...
 
Well I would be sharing my connection with my bro, so I just applied for 4mb line just now.Soon as i get it im switching my dsl line to Axxcess .Thanks for the help guys.

Probably has a higher priority for a 4mb line or the guy had a free slot in his diary and you were the lucky recipient of it.
 
Arhhhhh.I was so freaking excited .Got Home last night with a new router ,connected everything but the adsl light and PPP light on the router flashed for a few seconds then switched off,kept on doing the same thing over and over again .So i Phoned uknowwho.They told me that my line is faulty and they would get back to me.....still waiting.........
