Okay its a given that BusinessDSL is 512 or 1024. Residential comes in 192, 384, 512 and 1024.
Now after setting up a couple of these lines it seems that a couple of strange things are going on.
The "connection" between the router and the DSLAM on a 192 circuit is 320up/192down, so these lines max out at about 275 kbps, so i would imagine the difference is the overhead, like atm ect.
but if you upgrade to a 384, the connection speed is 640/256. however this is the same speed as the business dsl connections to.
so what if any is the difference in the product of 384 and 512 acctually.
Also the 1024 line connects at 11xx so does the overhead stay as a percentage of the connection or is it fixed.
look i understand that there are distance from the exchange issues and it also depends if you are on a busy exchange, but are these "connection" figures between the router and the DSLam anything to go by or is it limited afterwards by saix?
just wondering?
