Hi All,

I purchased a d-link DSL-2540U modem and a d-link DI 624S router. I managed the modem setup to use my adsl connection. I have a desktop connected to the modem's ethernet port as well as a network printer connected to the modem ethernet port. The pc can see the printer as well as the connect to the internet.

I connected my router to the modem via the wan connection on the router but I cannot connect to the router's home page via the pc, connected to the dsl modem. When I connect my laptop to the router I can access the router's home page but I cannot access the modems home page from the laptop and also not the printer.

Problem:

I need to be able to access the network printer and pc via the router because my modem will be in a room where my telkom lines connect to it. I will then connect via ethernet the router to the modem in another part of the house as well as on the first floor of the house. I try to connect the router to the modem by not pluging the cable from the modem into the wan port but just into any ethernet port,I also switched the dhcp off on the router but no luck. The modem and the router are on the same subnet 255.255.255.0 but the router's ip range is still default 192.168.0.1. The modem is set on dhcp and nat.

Can someone help me with this setup? I'm sure I'm missing something simple.

I managed to get it working.Well almost. I changed the router's IP to the same range as the dsl modem's range. My IP to access the router has changed. I disabled DHCP on the router.Connect the dsl modem via ethernet to the router's ethernet port and not to the WAN port. I can see the admin console of the router from my pc,connected to the dsl modem ethernet ports. I can also connect to my router with my laptop and surf the web as well as see my network printer, connected to the dsl modem ethernet, and print to it. I'm not able to see the pc from my laptop or see the laptop from my pc, but my laptop is on a domain, the clients, and my ps and everything else at home is on a workgroup. I'll work on this scenario to see how I can solve it.
