3 Gigabyte Shaped Internet services
ISP's provide the Internet services that run on DSL with a 3 Gigabyte cap. To provide all DSL customers with a reasonable service a 3 Gigabyte limit was introduced as part of the Internet service to ensure that power users do not abuse the international bandwidth and to equally distribute the limited bandwidth amongst all DSL access end users.

Once a customer exceeds the 3 Gigabyte volume limit for the month his international traffic will be transported over a slower international link without affecting his local access. He will experience slower access speeds on the alternate international link, as he will then be sharing this link with all other customers who exceed the 3 Gigabyte cap until the beginning of the following month when the cap is reset.

International traffic is shaped to ensure that bandwidth hungry applications such as peer-to-peer including Kazaa, Fasttrack & Napster etc. do not adversely affect other applications.

The speed (or lack thereof) of the international bandwidth after you have been capped was mentioned during the ICASA hearings.

Just looking at the ADSL T&C I believe that this must be changed as it is very misleading to a prospective customer.
If one takes this on face value it can be easily misinterpreted that you can still use the internet (and sites overseas) on a capped account, just at a much slower speed, when the truth of the matter is that its impossible to browse or even check mail on servers hosted overseas after the cap. One can also argue the intention is to mislead surely.
