Need to brainstorm this to ensure that I have covered all the bases. I need to convince an obstinate person (a decision maker, no less) that DSL if preferable to LTE in an established and growing urban area in one of the bigger metros in South Africa.

VDSL is available a block away but the decision maker would rather offer LTE than extend the copper to the user's house.

The user will use between 150-200GB of data per month, wants to stream video, download 'data', upload files to customers (he works from home as a developer), game online, Skype/communicate, browse, email, etc. He is wanting a 10/20Mbps fixed line solution.

I have already started on the pros and cons but please contribute, no matter how insignificant.

DSL is very behind LTE in SA. For all practical purposes VDSL shouldn't even be factored in, due to less than appalling availability, and in the majority of the country the same goes for "up to 10mbps" ADSL.

If said person wants a modern, cutting edge, internet connection, he will unfortunately have to cough up for LTE.

You missed the part about there being VDSL available a block away. His DSLAM is ADSL2+ but he is too far away to get 20Mbps ADSL, max being around a stable 6Mbps.

Have you gamed on LTE yet?

Gaming on LTE for past 7 months nw with TM and Vodacom.works perfectly with no lag.

In my opinion i think usage in excesa of 15Gb then LTE no longer viable

If I were that user, being forced to LTE, I would probably leave that and have to look at something like BitCo for example. Their 10Mbps uncapped offering is R1499 p/m. With that said I would prefer the fixed line with the highest speed as I've found it to be less temperamental.

As a web developer my experience with TM LTE on prepaid, I was impressed by the download speed but price, latency and stability was the deal breaker for me. You will find many cases where users are happy with LTE/3G as their primary connection. I use 3G as a backup should my fixed line go dark.

Hope this helps
