I'm not 100% sure if this is the right place to post this, but becoming a little desperate.
About 10 days ago, we had a massive storm in the area. None of my equipment got damaged, but it appears my actual line is faulty. I have a perfectly adequate Internet connection. I'm paying for a 1Mbps line, and that's what I'm getting. However the voice service is dead. Not even a hint of dial tone. I have logged the fault with Telkom, but I'm doubting they'll get back to me this century. The problem is, I need the voice service. My wife works from home, and makes about 50 calls a day. She is losing serious money at the moment.
What I'm getting at, really, is...
1. Has anyone had this problem before, and know what the cause was, so I can try a self-repair.
2. Any suggestions on where I can look for an issue. I suspect the issue lies with my port at the exchange, but what do I know. It just makes no sense to me that the ADSL portion works no problem, but the voice service is dead. I have taken all devices off the line and used a working basic handset to confirm no dial tone.
Thanks for any (good) help given.
