DSLAM installation?

is there anybody that can explain to me how its possible that its going to take telkom 3 months to install a new dslam in my local exchange?
its not like i live out in the sticks, observatory cape town.
i am aware there's a huge backlog on telkom's side, but 3 months is a far cry from the 6-8 weeks is was told.

maybe i'm missing something?

Very often the employees at Telkom do not know what they are talking about. Try and phone them again and speek to someone who knows what is potting. Otherwise, phone on a weekly basis to find out what the status is for the installation of the DSLAM!

I feel your pain, My exchange ran out of ports in march, So apparently I will only get ADSL in september from tellscum

ouch.. sorry man, seems to be a common problem

i tried the phoning trick, twice a week for almost a month now. think i need to find a different channel.

Heh. I applied in February. No ports. Then they started upgrading, and told me it would take two weeks. It took 4 months. So far, they claim to have done all the tests on my line, and allocated me a port, and even plugged it in. But now they're telling me that they have tasked someone to activate it, and that takes another 11 working days. Sheesh. Oh well. At least there's progress, eh?
