Has anyone viewed the Supersport 4K channel on the DSTVNow app. The resolution definitely does not look like 2160.

Been trying to watch the England game in 4k on my Samsung now. The quality is great and looks 4k but it stops every 45 seconds and pauses. This is on a 50mb fibre line… Frustrating. 50mb should easily be enough.

Funny I saw this post as I was about to ask the same question. I'm currently streaming the FIFA World Cup on Showmax Pro and it looks HD at best, even though they advertise it as being 4K. I've noticed the same issue on the DSTV app in the past with other sports.

When streaming on other services such as Netflix the picture looks fantastic, so it's definitely not my TV.

I've tried it on both Android TV (Ematic Box) and the native app on Hisense VIDAA. I think Multichoice is taking us for a fool.

Any other opinions on this?

I can't see the difference between HD and 4k:(... Is it just me? Even on Netflix.. I have a Samsung 4k tv(nu7100) and a 50 Meg line

Are you subscribed to the 4K package on Netflix (R199)?

There is quite the difference on my Hisense 58" A7100F.

4K streams only require about 15mbps of bandwidth, so your line is more than capable of streaming the content.

If you can't see the difference most likely Multichoice has not updated those apps. On Apple TV the difference is clear as night and day, and it is definitely 4K.

Yes R199 package and I select the 4k movies /series.. On dstv 4k soccer Channel i really can't see the diff.. I might a well just have a full HD TV

Don’t worry my eyes all don’t see much difference

As far as I know, 4k is only available via satellite using an Explora Ultra decoder (has h265 decoding) or via streaming on their own Streama box. Quite annoying that it's not available on the mobile apps or browser.

Showmax Pro (Supersport feed) is 4K on Apple TV.

My TV app also now has an option for 4k

The problem is that the stream stops every 30 seconds - Basically unusable and I have a 500 Mbps line.
Seems like this only affects Live Sports - Catch up never buffers or stops

When I Cast from my Tablet or Phone, then it NEVER buffers or stops

Are you using the DSTV app or Showmax? It. Seems they've removed the option to cast live sports on Showmax, while casting movies and series works perfectly fine.

They specifically advertise it as being 4K on the Showmax app.
