DStv A3 remote not working right.

I need some help.
My DStv A3 remote stopped working, when I push a button it does nothing but blink its LED a few times.

Long red
Short red
Short green

Can anyone tell me what this means?

Have you tried removing the batteries?

That's the first thing I did, and put in new batteries.
