Hi
Hopefully someone can help me out, my parents still has a normal Mnet decoder, they are thinking of getting DSTV but want to know if they will have to get rid of the Mnet decoder?, my father wants to watch sports and my mother just wants the Mnet, so he wants the DSTV in Living room and the normal Mnet in the bedroom

Can this be done or will i have to pay 2 separate subscriptions?, i remember a few years back i heard that if you have Mnet and you get DSTV you can keep your Mnet decoder for free, but i can’t find anything on the Net

This is true.

You no longer can split your MNET Channel from your DSTV,...-was a service that was offered, but then new regulatory statutes took effect...no new split services were allowed.

It doesn't even need to be PVR's. Any two XtraView capable decoders will work.
cool, but the fact remains i cant hookup my mnet decoder in a separate room?, i’ll have to use a HD pvr in one room and a normal DSTV decoder in another room.
This sucks, they’ll have to pay the R60 extra per month for the extra view option.

Nice
But thanks for the feedback, Luckily DSTV is so well priced and worth the money...sigh

What do you mean "have to" use an HD-PVR? You can xtraview two 1131's as well. Go have a look at classifieds. http://capetown-westerncape.gumtree...and-new-1132-DSTV-decoders-W0QQAdIdZ383372319 would be ideal for your needs. This, of course is assuming you don't need HD

If you still have the mnet decoder and it is still active, then yes it is still possible under 1 subscription. Basically the mnet decoder will be in your bedroom and the dstv decoder in the living room. You will not be able to receive mnet through the DSTV decoder, only through the mnet decoder.

IF you have deactivated your mnet decoder, then it will no longer be possible. Your best bet would be Dual View PVR (not sure if they still sell dual view pvr decoders??). One channel of the dual view channels could be for your bedroom, and the other for the living room.

EDIT: just saw all the replies. If you want HD then you would have to go for 2x HDPVRs. If your house is connected via coaxial, you can have one in each room.
