DSTV and SABC

Would DSTV be considered digital? I was under the impression that the signal was an analogue signal although it is still DSTV.

It is not digital. Is that correct? By digital I would assume that means DVB-T
Obviously SABC is analogue.

The stream on which DStv is transmitted from Randburg-Satellite-Your house is digital. From there it is converted to analogous sound and video you watch.

DSTV uses DVB-S (Satellite) , Sentech is rolling out DVB-T (Terrestrial). They are very similar. You also get DVB-C (Cable), but not in SA. AS lcbxx said, the analogue conversion only happens at the last stage so that your CRT tv can display it. For LCD tv's using a HDMI or DVI cable, the whole process stays digital.

PVR type devices will normally record the mpeg stream from the digital signal, without converting.

EDIT: Sentech is rolling out DVB-T for SABC.

Ok thanks guys, so tell me my dual view PVR, would that have a digital receiver and an analogue one or 2 digital ones?
The reason I ask is because I can watch one channel and record a totally different one at the same time so this would have to have 2 tuners - both digital?

So tell me, besides the fact that it takes a smart card, what would the difference between this and the MVIX PVR be?
