What's this all about? Marketing I'm assuming?

First time I've seen it. Not even at home this weekend... which is the reason why I don't have premium. :)

They just finished a previous "free channel" promo last Sunday, guess the mail light on my decoder is flashing again (Easyview).

Just got an SMS about it now. This weekend is British Open golf, also Super Rugby playoffs.

Behold! You will realise you have been missing nothing at all...

was thinking the same thing, cant wait for telkom to finish installing the lines. I miss my 10MB :) then I can dump DSTV again.

Prepared to offer them R50 extra per month for the channels above :p -
they can keep the rest on offer, during this Open Content Weekend ; already have Sky News on the package I'm on.

Trying to lure you into upgrading to premium. Happens from time to time.

This. Nothing more, nothing less. Fact is DSTV are losing premium subscribers. Most people I know have either downgraded to compact or have cancelled their DSTV entirely in favour of broadband options. Times are tough and forking out +/- R700 pm has become a pure luxury for many. I speculate that it's just a question of time before premium is no longer sustainable due to the dwindling subscriber base.

I wonder what will happen then? Will compact become the new premium, where they add all the premium channels and then shaft the current compact subscribers by increasing the price by 100%.

BTW I've had a little birdy tell me that DSTV may have some new competition in the near future.

Thanks for all the free sport this weekend, Dstv! However, still no way in hell I'm paying R650 a month.

It's not like I haven't realised what I've been missing all this while, it's just that food on the table for me and my wife is more important.

Was good to watch all that cricket. But no thank you to upgrading at that price

I have also noticed that DSTV are offering more and more of these "Open Content" weekends...
