MultiChoice would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your loyal support over the past year.

We wish to advise you that as of 1 April 2008, your monthly subscription will be increased by;

R29.09 to R468.99 for DStv Bouquet

Be assured that we are as committed as ever to bringing you even more world class entertainment in 2008

Maybe time to cancel this carp?

How many DVDs does R469 buy you these days, anyway? DSTV is overpriced by 2/3's
but since it's a monopoly there's nothing we can do, the alternative SABC service is
horrendously bad.

Yeah, well they will rule as long as they have exclusive sports content.

I only watch for NGC, Discovery and the sport. I'm willing to pay R150 for that - if they would just bring out the sports package combined with three channels of your choosing. Flexibility will attract far more subscribers

I think sheer channel numbers bring in the first customers, only seasoned
customers will want to customise. The less popular channels are prolly
cheap or even given to DSTV for free anyway.

Good point, however existing customers should be able to customise their bouquets. For argument sakes, let's start off making it exclusive to those who have been subscribers for longer than 6 months.

The price to be paid of each channel should be made available. If that's not an option, then sell bundles in combinations eg. the sport bundle + the science bundle + the movie bundle.

I'm willing to bet, they'll spin it in such a way it will cost you even more
if you add up all the customised channels together. For example, your
SPORTS, Discov and NGC package will prolly retail for R399.99
which is not far from the R470 they want for everything,
and while arguably it's a saving, you may occasionally
want to watch a movie or CNN or something too.

Don't give DSTV ideas.

yeah can get about 5 new dvd's for that price, i can't actually even remember when last i watched a movie on DSTV. Now if only SABC would air sports like super14 etc etc i would literally through that P.O.S decoder out the window.

We have to give them credit for their sports coverage. If there's something major on, it's probably on SS.

Seacom might help us here too. Spend some of that money on bandwidth and download the programs shown on MNET and get DSTV compact or Vodacom Select for other stuff

If everything was so hunky dory then people wouldn't think of cancelling their DSTV.
Sometimes marketing is so stupid, and annoying.

you bettcha ! :D

Canceled mine yesterday. I had enough off all the repeats, and then they have the nerve to increase subscriptions too. On the DSTV forums, there is a whole battle going on about the repeats.
