Dstv arc settings

Hi all,

Can someone recommend the best dstv arc setting and tv setting for a samsung ps42c430?

I currently have it on:
Tv- 16:9
Dstv- arc 3

Now this seems fine on for example mnet hd but then when the GF watches E it leaves bars on the side.
Also discovery for example leaves bars at the top and the bottom, however that seems to be the way it is broadcast as the logo is half way over the bar.
So then when she watches E I have to change to arc 5 and when I watchni have to change back to 3.

ARC 1 or ARC 3

Widescreen channels are displayed the same on both, i.e full screen
4:3 channels are displayed in the correct aspect ratio on ARC 1 but you have black bars on the side (pillarbox)
ARC3 stretches 4:3 so you will have "fat people"

ARC 2 simply zooms in 4:3 so you will have the top & bottom cut off

Was at friends on Saturday with SD DSTV (new decoder) + PS42C430. They didn't recall any black bars either.

Have you gone into the advanced picture settings in the DSTV menu? Password is 9949. Perhaps it's a setting there.

please do me a favour go check your discovery channel for example.

Ok so SD Discovery has bars with ARC3.

exactly my point, now switch to arc 2 to make it full screen and it cuts off
