I pay per year in Jan (before the hike).
Now in May, I was billed for 1 month.
Checked with the call centre, and seems this was a "billing error" and
because I called in, I will be refunded.
I suspect if I did not call in I would not get my money back.

Q1. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Q2. Why is it that when DSTV steal my money it's a "billing error",
but if I download a DSTV movie it's theft/piracy?

Do you think they "Intended" to refund my money?
Why did I have to call them first?
Why will it take 30 days to get my money back?

I "intended" to return the downloaded DSTV movie - if they call me (after 30 days).

I also pay DSTV per year. Beginning of this year I was double billed for the year. Took almost 3 months for them to pay me back, after numerous phone calls, and after lodging a complaint. Their billing department don't know what they're doing.

Is this a pattern of "billing errors"?
If so, then "Intent" to commit "billing errors" (aka theft) seems probable.

Hmm, I also had a problem this month. Suddenly my extra-view decoders was billed for full service. Apparently there was connect/disconnect issues on their system on 25 & 26 April for various accounts. (MultiChoice admitted this to me.) They had to reset my stuff to get extra-view working again, but it took me 2 calls (waiting for hours) to get them to refund me. If I did not insist on a refund, nothing would have happened. Sure looks like they just "ignore billing errors".

How do we organize to pay dstv for 1yr, I don't pay debit order so it should be easy.

I hear if you pay for 1yr you get 1 month excluded? so I should save R695 if I pay for 11 months?

Not paying via debit order seems to be the answer. Is this possible when paying for a full year?

Very much so. This thread is just another reason why I don't do debit orders anymore. When companies have your banking information they can so easily make a screw up and then it becomes YOUR problem to fix it.

Correct. Vodacom once suspended my service because they made a billing error, and then made it my problem.

Every time I phone Multichoice to do something on my account they try and push the debit order thing down my throat and I tell them they're not getting unrestricted access to my bank account, ever, because their accounts department are so useless.

Billing error? Yes I have a billing error every month on my DSTV. They charge too much :p

No fan of their debit orders either. A couple of years ago, I was billed fourteen times in a calendar year. There was one refund but no resolution on the thirteenth month of billing. I got plenty of blank stares and passed from one supervisor to another but I guess the good folk at DStv must have figured out a way to squeeze 395 days worth of viewing that year into my decoder and mine alone. I suppose I should have been more grateful...

There was an error on my debit this month too. By more than R500:mad:. I'm cancelling the debit order too.

I refuse to pay via debit order.
However, they've made mistakes with my bill too and got disconnected.. I called them to had the error rectified, and next month there was a R50 reconnection fee. I complained that it was their error, but after months of emailing etc I stopped trying. Their damn system is just useless..

The moment I get an alternative way to watch rugby, I'm disconnecting (for life)

Makes me wonder if I should cancel the SO's debit order with them. Too many stories I am hearing lately.
