So I've run out of international bandwidth for the month and decided to give DSTV Broadband a look in.

I hopped to the site expecting to be greeted by a the full range of DSTV channels and programming (at least live sport and discovery), only to find that its selection is very limited indeed

Does anyone have info on this service and if it will be improving any time soon

(Wasn't sure to put this under Multimedia or ADSL section, sorry, assumed ADSL as its something to do once capped, oh yes I did this out of pure boredom, I know of the other nice uses of local bandwidth ;))

The stuff that's on there is as good as it get tbh. I also checked it out once but honestly I'm not interested in Egoli reruns and the like...

The problem is the daft international content providers think Multichoice are a bunch of third world hicks who would let all their evil subscribers pirate at will given half the chance. So they place the most onerous restrictions on them making it next to impossilbe for them to offer a great service.

is it draconian terms or the cost of bandwidth in South Africa?

EDIT: And when you think about even in the UK the Sky website doesn't have episodes available to download for say a program like Lost. So I guess the issue lies with the terms given bandwidth costs in the UK would hardly be given as a viable reason.

Obviously the international media companies doesnt want DSTV to stream their content (possible theft etc.)

DSTV - Shows mostly local content except one ep of Supernatural)
BBC iPlayer - BBC made content
Sky - You can find some nice things to watch.

Well I have to say though I love that site. Where else am I going to get my Afrikaans series which really is only available on Kyknet or on that site.

For once I am not complaining, in fact that site is perfect for what I need. I just hate DRM...

To convince me show me if Sky has any episodes of US made series like lost.
