Its been quite a few weeks of on and off problems with the DSTV catchup service.
The APP installled on my PC mostly refuses to download stuff properly and actually complete the download.
The Download speed is never what it should be and for example currently i get 50 Kb/s and then nothing then it gives a little 60 Kb/s burst and then nothing.
This can go on for days or the download will just fail.
Then i though ok maybe is just this POS software that they use for ondemand.
So i went to the website to stream it and almost every second link clicked on that website it either stops responding and just keeps on loading and loading or the website just times out.
I then figured that the content will mostly be kept on mweb servers and im a telkom internet subscriber.
it seems almost anything hosted on mweb servers have below average performance.
from speedtests to their servers to latency tests from traceroutes it seems that all these problems i have has one thing in common Mweb.
here is an example of a traceroute done.
it looks pretty clear that mwebs network is to blame here.
