A complaint about a programme broadcast on the Comedy Channel on DSTV was dismissed, the Broadcasting Complaints Commission of SA said on Monday.

"The complainant regarded the video as being harmful in that a young man was injured after a vehicle was driven into him," the BCCSA said in its judgment.

"There was no clear indication that the driving of a vehicle into an individual could be equated with extreme violence."

The tribunal viewed the video which was broadcast on the programme Tosh.O in June last year.

Tosh.O was an American television series hosted by comedian Daniel Tosh who provided commentary on online video clips, society, celebrities and other popular culture.

The BCCSA said the video could be described as a stunt which the affected parties were fully aware of.

"The programme was accompanied by an age restriction," it said.

"No contravention of the code was found."
