Really Windows XP cannot format fat32, go read up a bit more.
format /FS:FAT32 X:

You might encounter problems with disks larger than 32GB, and it is very slow. Imagine coming to your PC after a few hours and encounter this error mesaage: "The volume is too big for FAT32". Rather go with the utility and save yourself time and frustration.

Edit my DSTV HDD is a Hitachi not a Maxtor

Must be FAT32. BTW, I have mailed you the tutorial.

For under R400 they will swap your PVR for a refurbished unit.

Formatted the partitions and everything is working great!
