I just go the new Dstv decoder and am asking if it's possible to remove the 2tv hdd and use it as n external hhd with n hdd enclosure. Can the explore work without n hdd? Can I install a smaller hdd in it?

Why in the world would you want to do that? I am pretty sure you could remove the HDD and put it in an enclosure, but I have a feeling it is a 3.5" drive, so you will need an external powered enclosure. You also can probably install a smaller HDD in the Explora (notice the correct spelling?
), but You will not be able to use it. They use encryption on the drive and also needs to be in a proprietary file format. Imho, it would me less expensive and much less hassle to just go out and buy an 2TB external drive.
