Hey guys

Was wondering does anyone know if the DStv hd decoder signal strength and quality readings are accurate?

Thanks!

No. The last time one could rely on the values was the DS 660 decoder model. The SD PVR was reasonably accurate as well for a while. Now, the value displayed is after an automatic optimisation process, which includes a gain adjustment making the signal strength value no longer proportional to actual received signal strengths. hence you can't really use the values for antenna alignment purposes without lots of patience.

What is important is that the quality value must be as close to 100% as possible for proper HD reception and should be "measured/checked" on at least one VER ch and one HOR ch when aligning an antenna.

I use an old DSD 660 decoder for alignment purposes when I do not have access to an FSM.

Hi
Also having signal problems, and wondering what are the minimum signal strength and signal quality values to get a stable signal? That's assuming the values are accurate/measured.
