Hi All

My husband and I are avid local content watchers on DSTV. However, he will be going overseas for 2 months and I'm planning to download certain programmes for him (From Kyknet specifically) via DSTV's Desktop Player. The programmes are only valid for 7 days though and available for download for 30 days at most.

Is there a way to bypass the DRM on the player to keep it for longer? I've scanned the net and tried out a couple of options (DRM Remover for Mac/Windows applications) but no luck.

I'm aware that international series etc are available using torrents but I'm looking for local content specifically.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried perhaps backdating your computer's date. I don't really use the desktop player because the quality isn't great, but for local content I guess you're forced to.

Thanks SpoonTech, I'll try that. And you're right, the quality is terrible. I'm also looking into "stream recorder/capture" software.
Thanks again.

Update: Tried it and it works. Guess I can continue setting back my pc until I figure out a way to keep the files.

or you can screen capture (Fraps) while playing the show on the monitor. Unfortunately extremely tedious....

Thanks McGuywer! It helps that we're both computer nerds. Our idea of a romantic evening involves multiplayer on ps3. He He

Ive got a csi episode from over a year ago, all I do is copy and paste the file to another location, open it with windows media player, then it asks me for drm, it automatically re-directs the window it opens to dstv on demand where I enter in my login details and then it plays!
