In the Commercial Supscription on DStv on channel 65 they are running Dolby tests and the one just said Dolby Digital

A 'Dolby Digital output' is SPDIF.

Most new decoders can output Dolby Digital as they have SPDIF ports. My old one doesn't though *sigh*

*NEW* from Multichoice! a Dualview PVR with AC3 digital out... now only R4000! I can see the marketing spin engine running again.... another R50 for 5.1 audio.

This I hope is not true.

lol... i would rather have a HD signal than 5.1 sound...

Yes, but there are cheaper alternatives as well. Multichoice is selling a decoder for under R1000 with the digital out as well ;)

nice, but you will only get 5.1 sound from movies or programmes specificaly recorded with that in mind.

i dont think watching cricket in 5.1 will make a difference... to the aussies i mean... :p

I heard rumours that DStv might introduce HDTV, maybe for 2010 World Cup?? As far as I know do HDTV support 5.1 surround sound. DStv could just as well broadcast in 5.1 as much of the series and movies have a surround-sound track, and most is in widescreen. The idea of sport in 5.1 sounds nice.

is it DD 2.0, 2.1 or 5.1? DD is just the format of the recording, doesn't mean it is 5.1 channel if it says DD.

It was 5.1

It had a sound test and was going between the 5 speakers and the sub. The Language menu had 4 options on it, one was playing the Dolby soundtrack, one was just random tones, Movie Magic and Supersport.

Did this done that, Mine do not have that 65 on Subscription. Future channel it said?????????????????

Weird, I just went to have a look and it was still running. Seems to be a 15 minute loop. Try a rescan and see if it pops up.

Ok Maybe was a hickup as it is there now. My HT system do not decode the dolby signal from the dualview decoder. I used the coax digital output to DVD input and only get PCM 48 message ie 2.1 system. The rest like 5.1 None....No decoding!........??????
