DSTV Drifta

Durban is show as being under maintenance for 19-31 Jan, but it is two days downtime per site. I purchased on the 22 Jan and trying to get started. Coverage map shows me just under 50m outside the fringe areas, but I tried at work and drove around (including to some higher ground with +15KM views) and have not received the steady green bar as yet - flashing green then amber.

Just want to find out from Dbn drifta's - is your reception fine? Or has it been out for the entire downtime, or just two days?

Sorry to bring up an old thread. This may sound like a stupid question but must your drifta always be plugged in to a usb/wall socket on order for you to use it? Or is mine defective? It doesn't switch on unless its plugged in

Just keep the on button pushed in a while longer - it should then switch on if the battery is fully charged.

Held it down for a good two minutes. Definitely a defect. Thanks for the help

Downloaded a free program called QZoom which allows you to zoom into your desktop, this makes full screen video possible. Note: The video needs to be on the smallest size before you zoom into it to avoid flickering.

I tested QZoom this weekend while watching the Super Rugby games. Have to be honest, I think plain old Windows Magnifier does a better job. It seems to be less resource intensive.

Still hearting my Drifta. :)

Hey guys.

Anybody using a drifta in the Queensburgh area in Durban? Thinking about trying this out as I only watch sports, and full blown dstv is really expensive for this.

Thanks

Lol, checked the coverage map and my whole area is covered .... except for a white patch of no coverage the whole way down the road I'm on. How the eff does that work.

All,

There was a thread about getting the Drifta to work on Linux, I can not seen to locate it anymore. Has anybody made any further progress on this? I have tried and have been able to connect to the device and get the channel listing but I can not get the thing to start streaming the actual tv content.

Anybody trying the same thing?

where is the android app for the drifta... waiting too long for this

I am also waiting on the Android app, if we could get it working on linux then android could also be do-able.

I did speak to a contact in the multichioce decoders hardware development section and he mentioned that both android and blackberry are a while off. The developers can not get either of them working properly. Bummer we will just have to wait as per usual in this place!

Unfortunately, this is true. dstvmobile forums have said end of May.

end of may?? i was preparing myself for end of april... this sucks :(

I think this is going to turn out to be another android update to Froyo saga. April...May....June.....July

Where have all the good developers gone?

Hi. I am living in Escombe currently and have a Drifta. Also bought it for the sport. It works well at home but just takes some time to lock onto the signal...........this could be because of the terrain where I live as normal SABC reception is also pretty poor.........
