DSTV Drifta

I am starting to feel we are never going to get the android and blackberry apps

I posted the following on the dstvmobile website forum... I am also an Android owner, and bought the drifta in anticipation of me being able to use my device with the Drifta. Waiting anxiously for April... nothing...

On the 21st of January, the official DSTv Mobile Twitter account posted this:
http://twitter.com/#!/DStvMobile/sta...51645410660352
It Says:
Quote:
DStv Mobile Android and Nokia applications will be available by April 2011. Watch this space for details.
The 1st of April, and indeed the entire month went by with no app.

Then, on the 21st of April, the official DSTv Twitter account posted this, after a constant compaining and moaning from me:
http://twitter.com/#!/DStv/status/61054377414242304
It Says:
Quote:
@SpartanZA @DStvMobile is still testing the app and apologises for the delay. They will announce a new launch date very soon
It is now the 9th of May, with still no Android App, and still no date for the app to be released (if ever).

I find it totally unacceptable that DSTv and DSTv Mobile make these promises and fail to deliver. Not only fail to deliver, but fail to inform its customers of what is going on?

I have read on forums on the internet of users willing to be beta testers and give their time and effort to help DSTv Mobile create an Android app.

I also find shocking that at the launch of the Drifta last year, the Apple iPad, a device that was not officially launched/supported in South Africa had an app, but any Android devices did not!

One last thing I have a problem with is this forum. Dont run a forum if you are not going to interact with its users... Really no point is there? You just leave a whole lot of customers, or worse, potential customers angry, left out, and frustrated.

Now, give us an app for the drifta for Android, or at least give us a date for when it will be launched! Respond to the users on twitter, (instead getting @DSTv to do it for you), and respond to your customers on this forum.

The same promise was made to Blackberry owners. I bought the Drifta in January after the sales person promised me the device will work on Blackberry. "It says on the box "mobile decoder" was his answer?! and Blackberry is mobile, is it not?".

Since January I waited in anticipation for April, to hear that it's only coming end May. Today is end May (is it not)? So what's happening. I think the Drifta is a waste of money.

Looking at the lack of proper channels on it I have to agree

If you're already a Premium subscriber its costs zip atm (besides purchase price). Even at R36 pm on its own, not bad value for money.

BTW: Is it just me or does the new Win sw/fw produce a much sharper picture (e.g. CNN or eNews)?

Setup was really easy apart from having to memorise the SO's id number. Picture quality is a little low but I guess that's the price for the convenience.

You basically get it for the sport as the other channels are a little bleh. Of course the real trick is to try it out while driving

Is the drifta availible for non DSTV subscribers and what it the prize a month for it?

If there is possibly a drifta/dstv representative that may come across this post, there is a little place called EAST LONDON on the east coast of our country. And no, it is not a suburb of port elizabeth but about 300km up the coast from PE. You have a mast that has already been put up by you folks but no equipment as yet. Wad Up? Please, there is a lot of interest here as well as folks sitting with Driftas but no signal. Make a plan, thanks.
