Lost and Confused...
Hi guys

I have strange query. My dual view is suddenly not responding to remote inputs. Absolutely nothing works.

I have changed the remote batteries, confirmed that the remote works on another decoder, tested another decoders remote... no luck. That little red flashing light does not come up on the decoder as well, light on the remote works. Have reset the decoder on the front panel, no luck.

Any idea how to reset everything, all the settings, using the front panel?

Thank you guys

Have you tried turning off the power off and back on again?

take your remote.
take your cell.
Open camera on cell.
Operate remote [pointing at camera] while looking at remote via camera. Do you see one led in the remote?
NO, then open remote and clean contacts.

Yup, confirmed remote is working on another decoder. Also tried this trick, can see the infrared light from the remote.

I know you can switch the IR on/off on the front panel of an SD PVR. Think by pressing up+down arrows together. Not sure if this works on a dual view too...

did it just die, or someone adjust something.

eg Adjusting second tv etc.
restart and clean rx eye on decoder.

Is the remote in the correct mode? Usually, it is in mode 1 for the primary receiver and mode 2 for the secondary

To change it, Shift + I for mode 1 and Shift + Exit for mode 2 (on that specific remote)

The mode your receiver is programmed to respond to is under XtraView settings

Thank you for the suggestions guys. Nothing seems to work. This decoder was a refurbished replacement that I received from MC last week, so I'm assuming that it's a dud. Going to MC today to replace it.

Since 2008 I have swapped 4, 4-Tuner PVRs. Some units would not work at the counter when they came to test, two lasted less than 2 weeks. One had live cockroaches in it when they unpacked it at the counter (small ones mind you)

The first one lasted 4 years and the most recent since April. Holding thumbs

Thank you Chris C - pressing SHIFT + INFO solved the problem for me

The problem is not with the settings. The light on your decoder does not come on when pressing a button on the remote. That means the decoder does not get a signal. It’s like holding your hand between the remote and decoder. Open the decoder and you will see a thin layer of dust all over inside. It’s like on top of your cupboards if you didn’t clean it recently. Also the small black fan’s blades are clogged with dust. Take off the gray plastic front panel after you opened the decoder and put it aside. Connect an air compressor cleaning gun to a compressor and blast clean the whole inside of the decoder. I could not find the infrared sensor/detector so I just blast cleaned the whole thing. Some components have got plugs that connect to other components. Pull out those plugs and blast the male and female sides properly. Blast directly into the little black fan, it will run like hell, but it will be clean after that. When you think the decoder is clean, blast it one more time properly from all possible sides. YOUR DECODER WILL WORK LIKE NEW. If you need assistance you can pm me. I know the frustration of seeking for help at the call Centre and they say you must buy an Explora.
