DSTV Dual View/ RF problem

Hi,

I installed a new home theatre system for a friend and while doing this pulled out numerous plugs at the back of the decoder to free some space during the installation.

She has a SD PVR with dual view, besides the primary TV (connected to PVR by RCA and optical) one extension goes directly to a TV in room 2 via the PVR RF out, and the dual view cable goes to a splitter box which sends signal to a TV in a third room. All was working fine before.

After the HTS system installation was complete I now only get DSTV on the primary TV, so i must have connected something incorrectly. What puzzles me most is that even the most basic conn, the RF OUT from the PVR to TV in room 2, is not working, i've scanned on all frequencies and no picture. Also, the dual view connection in room 3, no picture, and all i did was pull out the dual view LNB cable out the decoder and put it back in.

Any useful comments/ hints will be appreciated.

Thx
Paul

Make sure both LNB cables are in on the Decoder. The RCA's from primary to HTS from HTS to TV1 (Main TV), the RF out directly to splitter to rooms (TV2 & 3). Check that there are no loose connections. All the RF clips must be good.

The RF out from the decoder will carry both channels to the connected TV's. The RCA out is for the Main TV only and will only show TV1 from the decoder. I set Mine up to split the RF 4 ways, 3 TV's in other rooms and also to my LCD. That way I can make sure everything works properly from one location first before going to the other TV's to try tune in....

The splitter that splits to the 2nd and 3rd TV, will probably be an active splitter that lets DC through and amplifies the RF by a few dB's. This splitter gets line powered from the RF out of the PVR. Was the decoder reset to factory defaults? If the TV link is not enabled, no power will be sent up the line and your active splitter won't work. Find the splitter and check that the light on it is burning...

As Quantum Theory says, I forgot about the TV Linky eye thingy (I dont use them... I have remote blaster). So make sure to check all that too...

Yes, thanks guys.........solved last night.

The second LNB connector was faulty, i put a new one, verified the TV Link settings and voila. It was so badly fitted i have no idea how it managed to work prev. That fixed the dual view issue.
I also had the RF cable connected to the incorrect plug, don't ask me how, there is a huge spaghetti story going on there behind that TV.

Nyway, alls good, much appreciated.
