DStv ending its Mobile TV service

The problem with your analogy is that they knew they were using outdated technology as a temporary stop gap rather than going with the times and what people want. As I understand there is actually already digital signals so it's not a case of either or let's stay on analogue.

Just because it's digital, doesn't mean it isn't outdated. Mobile GPRS for instace is digital, but has been succeeded with many far superior technologies.

A lot of European countries killed their DVB-H transmissions almost a decade back, with Finland being the last in 2012.

Did you read what I actually said? You assumed a false dichotomy of either analogue or digital tv. Since we have both it's clearly not the case. MC even has their own terrestrial service.

I'm just wondering if the 12 people who used to use the service will eventually notice...

I maybe in the minority but I am going to miss my Walka - zero data cost to watch rugby, cricket, news.

Their own people/call center seem to have no knowledge of this particular product discontinuation.
Only two days ago I contacted them with regard to an "E100-4 error" on an old Walka device.

I was told the following:

"We are unable to reconnect the DStv Walka at the moment, however we are liaising with our technical teams regarding the matter, and the error on screen will be resolved shortly".

Sad that the cheapskate means of getting to watch occasional events on SS1-SS4 goes with it. But that won't get me subscribing to the Premium package, if that's what they're hoping for.

Saw someone on FB trying to sell a Walka.

I was sooooo tempted to highlight the issue with someone buying it now. But I thought of just keeping to myself instead :o

Eish I have a "Drifta". Last used it maybe 3yrs ago.
I also have one in a cupboard that I got as a gift from someone. The app was a POS that did not want to work on rooted android. Quality was crap and reception in my flat was bad as well.

Dstv Walker & Dstv Walker 7 subscriber that have the dstv Mobile package that pay R49,00 ,dstv should still keep the service active and also please the services on the dstv know app do customer can watch both on dstv know and also on walker ,same package on walker they can watch all the same channels on dstv know
