I was wondering if anybody can help me!

I have a full hd tv and a hd pvr decoder. However, whenever I watch soccer on ESPN it seems to be extremely blurry. It seems to be worse with certain colours, like red(liverpool) and yellow.

I do not know if it is the TV, ESPN or the decoder settings that is the problem. Soccer on Supersport seems to be fine although sometimes a bit lagged and blurry (as expected with an LED tv) but not nearly as bad as on ESPN

Which tv do you have?

I suspect your tv might have a 50Hz refresh rate. This is not ideal for SD channels.

DStv letterboxes ESPN's already 16:9 broadcast, as well as compressing the piss out of the video feed. They did the same to eTV at one stage as well until the eNews channel started.

the euro soccer feed on espn is bad quality. its not your equipment OP. garbage in, garbage out im afraid.

Liverpool play better when you can't see them :p

Not had this issue though.

ESPN has always been broadcast in awful quality. On DSTV at least...

i had the same problem watching the match last night, i checked on my 32", then the 40", then even the 24" next to the tv... all looked horrendous, so its DSTV

Thanks so much for the replies guys! So I don't need to change anything?
A few other threads I read said something about changing the RF channel choice to 25 or also changing the UHF tuning. These threads were about fuzzy/blurry images and not necessarily about ESPN.

ok guys I'm back. Heres the update. I have an 42" LED 3D Sansui TV. its 120 hz. but the blurry sports still visible. I check my display and it says my dstv is at 1080i @ 50 Hz and my ps3 is at 1080 @ 60 HZ. could this be the issue? the picure is fine when it is close up but as soon as it is from distance the blurry picture comes back. any advice?
