Currently have an Explora 2A. It’s getting slow, have formatted it and it’s a little better but thinking about upgrading.

I see you can get an Explora 3B for R700, or the Ultra for R1700. Extra R1k gets you 4K and a number of apps.

My question is does anyone know the speed differences between these decoders?

Don’t care much for the Apps on the Ultra, 4K sounds nice but not sure how much content is actually broadcast in 4K?

The speed, for the most part, is going to be determined by the drive type.. I don't know about the ultra decoder, but everything before that has been 5400rpm hard disk drives, which is why they get so slow..

If the ultra has SSD storage, it should be significantly faster, provided the software is not slowing it down..

I'd also like to know what DStv channels are broadcast in 4K because that would be great for Sports. That alone would make the Ultra worth it.
