I just bought two exploras and i also have PVR HD, i want to connect 3 tvs, one explora in the living room one in my bedroom and the pvr in another bedroom. Is possible to connect 3tvs? Or view the same channels as one of the other?

The old PVR might be an issue as the new Exploras are a completely different breed, I got given a 3 and still haven't connected it as I need a new LNB.

@Geoff.D can correct me, but i think this is possible , assuming the hdpvr is the 2p pace model and not the old 4 tuner models, will have to run heartbeat between all the units though

you would need the smartlnb with 4 outputs, 2 unicable to the explora, and the legacy to tuner 2 of the 2p if i recall ( the satcr input) , with the explora the primary in the chain

The 3 extra view setup is only possible with and explora 4 5 or 6 HD series decoder combination. The older models are not compatible.

Hi all. I'd appreciate any advice, I have a explora2 connected via a DSTV 5-2 switch (live in a complex so cannot use smart lnb) I want to connect extraview in another room, I am going to buy the new dstv 6s hd decoder to use as the extraview decoder and connect it on the free unicable slot on the dstv switch. My main concern is the heartbeat to the extraview decoder, would I need to connect a heartbeat cable between the decoders or would it be picked up via the unicable and through the Dstv switch? I've came across something called "Uniview" while trying to research but didn't get much details on it, would that maybe apply here? If not, I assume I would also need a diplexer to connect behind the extraview decoder to connect both the heartbeat cable and unicable from the switch? Is my understanding correct? Alternatively should I rather opt to buy a second hand 4s decoder and connect the xtraview via the rf cable method? Is there a difference in interface on the 6s compared to the 4s? Any advise would be appreciated. Thank you.

I don't know the answer, sorry. But I do know that you don't need a heartbeat cable when using Explora 3As in Xtraview. Last month I finally turfed the older Explora PVRs, upgraded the LNB, and installed two Explora 3As.

The heart beat cannot be send through the 5-2 switch to the 6S. You will have to swop the 5-2 for a 24-1Z swatch to be able to do that. The alternative would be to install a heartbeat cable with a diplexer behind the 6S

I am not technically strong. I need to connect three exploras and have been advised to purchase a DSTV smart switch. I do not get any signal through when connecting the twin LNB cabled to the switch and then connecting Decoders via either the unicable or universal output ports. The switch is brand new. All I can think of is that one needs some special cable between the switch and the Exploras? Am I correct or am I just being dof?

What model switch do you use?
You will need the 24-1Z switch for 3 Explora's. Alternativity a DStv LMX501 Smart LNB will also do the trick
