Hi

I know this has been covered here before but I haven't found a valid answer, so here goes again:
I have an Explora (out of warrenty) that started to display a 'corrupt hard drive error'. It eventually got to the point where the HDD was no longer detected. I pulled the HDD out and tried doing a basic FAT format on it to see if that would help. The Explora now picks up the HDD, saying it requires formatting, but the explora format process doesn't work.

Does anyone know what formatting approach should be taken? FAT, NTFS, etc. Should it be done using low level formatting? Any particular utilities I should use? Partitioning?

The cost of DSTV is already a point of contention at home and I would like to try and avoid having to buy a new decoder if possible.

Cheers
Mark
