DSTV Explora Installations

Every time a particular DSTV installer in Pretoria comes for repairs or an installation in my house, the DSTV Explora reception and/operations will have problems. Today they came to install an extra view decoder in another room, now we have been unable to watch most channels. It keeps giving us Notification 48-32, indicating there is no signal due to either bad weather(not the case today) or a faulty installation. Does anyone what could be the cause if the technician says the installation can't be faulty? It just stops in the middle and shows this notification.

One might as well just cancel the DSTV subscription. The installer is actually recommended by the multichoice outlet.

Help anyone please.....?

This is a long shot but maybe he forgot to set the new frequencies on the new decoder so that they dont conflict with the other decoder.

So, most so-called accredited installers have no clue how to do the new installation when using a SLNB.

So fix it yourself.

ASSUMING you have the Explora 1 and a new HD decoder model 4137,

What MUST be done is to change the user bands and frequencies on the 4137 decoder user bands not in use by the Explora, which defaults to user bands 0,1,2.

The 4137 HAS TWO tuners NOT one as the 4136 has.
So each has to be set to different values from those used by the Explora decoder
Use user bands 3,4 for the 4137 5U or 5S. I am assuming the installation included a SLNB model LMX501?

IF NOT you will have to get them back as this decoder WILL NOT work when connected to the universal port on the SLNB.

Confirm the LNB type and decoder models and that the installer installed a diplexer behind the Explora 1 or behind the 4137 HD decoder. If not he will have to come back and fix up his mess.

Geoff. D.

Hope you find this post.

I recently purchased a smart lnb to install 2 x Explora decoders. One in main house and one in garden cottage. Now,here is my question;According to a specialist at MC said its as easy as 123,Cable from SLNB to one(primary) decoder....Cable from other(secondary) to SLNB....cable(HB) from one decoder to the other....is it that easy?

Yes it can be easy depending on the distance between the house and the cottage.

Which SLNB which Explora decoders.
