Without a wireless or ethernet link, does a DSTV Explora have an uplink? How does it request new copies of episodes or send any other feedback "up"?

Without an Internet connection no it doesn't... and it doesn't request anything the content gets pushed

Everything gets pushed, but what grinds my gears is that Loading screen once you want to check something on Supersport Active. That should not happen (or it should be very short) as the content is already on the decoder.

What feedback do you think it's sending?

I don't know. Surely they want stats on what "Catch Up" stuff is being watched and is most popular. You can "Request a New Copy" of an episode. The decoder dowloads/checks for software updates daily. I've always thought it was a downlink only, but I don't know how everything works without an uplink.

Meaning no uplink?

You decoder is receiving everything all the time via the dish. The actions you take on the thing mimics 2-way communication but in reality is is simply tuning into the applicable frequency/stream requested.

Thanks. This is what I thought.
