I have a 100mbps OpenServe fibre line with Cool Ideas.

I’ve noted that HD Catch Up downloads are slow and tested on several ISPs. Between 4mbps - 8mbps max for a HD download of around 1.8GB. It buffers and I have to pause for the download to catch up.

My explorer is connected via cable to the router. The explorer speedtest show 16mbps on a 100mbps link.

Anyone else experiencing this issue?

yip, it seems to be at its worst when everyone gets home after work. Its best to queue the downloads for late at night and when you are out of the house.

You should call the ISP to complain and log a service ticket. 16Mbps is very slow for a 100Mbps fibre line. There is definitely a problem either on the ISP or Openserve.

I get full 100mbps on WIFI or cabled device tests. It’s just explorer that shows speed is 16mbps when I run connectivity checker. The explorer is also plugged in to ethernet. What speed does your explorer show when you run the connectivity checker?

Between 10Mbps, 16Mbps and 20Mbps but I am on LTE with rain and not fibre. Explora also connected to router via cable. No buffering at all. Should be even better with fibre.

Sorry I am only using showmax through the explora. Not catchup plus downloads. I Should have stated that in the beginning.

Mine shows 98 megs on a 100 megs line on the explorer.

Your decoder might be faulty, mine did the same, and about 2 weeks later everything just started going wrong. Took it to the walk in centre and they replaced it.

I’ll try that, thanks. I logged with their support and now they’re asking for a picture of my LNB status. I see people complain about the same thing on the DSTV forums.

Not sure why lnb will effect catchup plus lol

I have noticed though that while Showmax and Netflix stream perfectly, dstv now seem to struggle on peak nights. I suspect the issue is their side.
