This is my current setup:

Main House Lounge: Dstv Explora with Smart LNB
Outbuilding: Dstv Explora with smart LNB (Separate installation and separate subscription as i had a tenant in there)

I now want to use my explora in the lounge as the primary decoder and have extra view connected in the outbuilding and I want to install a third decoder in the outbuilding so this is how it would look.

Main House Lounge: Dstv Explora with Smart LNB as primary decoder
Outbuilding: Dstv Explorer connected on extra view
Outbuilding Games room: Dstv HD Decoder also connected on extra view (I will purchase a compatible decoder)

My outbuilding is about 50m away from the dish that feeds my decoder in the main house.

Will it be possible for me to use the dish and smart LNB in the outbuilding to give signal to the two decoders in the outbuilding and use the dish and smart LNB located in the front of the main house for signal only for the one in the lounge of the main house ? (this would use a lot less cabling)

How would i connect the heartbeat cable to the 3rd decoder ? do i need to split the heartbeat cable from the primary decoder into two at the outbuilding or run a heartbeat cable from the second to the third ?

TIA

You can connect 3 decoders in Xtraview. So you should be able to exactly what you want :)

You should be able to find a diagram on Multichoice's website. The type of decoder might be an issue. I think they can only work in certain combinations not too sure.

With winter coming up, I'm thinking of buying the cheap R 399 HD decoder and link it up to the Xplorer we have so we can have dual view in the bedroom

Use RF in and out for the heartbeats to each of the secondary decoders.

And yes you can connect the other decoders to their own dishes

Hi

Did you manage to get it to work?

I have a similar setup and am not quite sure how the heartbeats should work. Do you run a single heartbeat cable form the primary decoder which is then split to the two Xtraview decoders or do you need to run 2 heartbeats from the primary decoder? If the latter, how do you connect two heartbeats to the primary decoder?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

I also want to ask about the the Rf behind explorer if we must connect 2 cable as we have Rf out and Rf in to feed the heart beat to each decoder or each decoder of secondary will have Rf in and Rf out.
