Apologies if this is not in the right forum, I did see an old thread about this here.

I currently have dstv and separate mnet on my account. I have the mnet for parents in the flat behind the house, with it`s own arial and everything. I don`t have a fancy dstv decoder. Can I switch to extra view and replace the mnet decoder with another dstv for only R55 ? Can it really be that easy ?

Yes it is that easy.
However, you will need a dual LNB cable (so that you can get two signal from the dish).
Only issue is, u have to run another cable from your main decoder to the 2nd one (called the heartbeat - its so that u cannot have extraview for your parents 100kms away).

Agree +1
The decoders have to be the same model , ie DSD 1110
Also remember ... 1 Decoder is Primary , the other Secondary ... The secondary decoder will not work if the power is off on the primary... so don't go away for the weekend and switch the power off.

decoders don't have to be same model. main decoder is a hd pvr decoder and our one is just a plain dstv decoder

Just as well, as they don't last more than six months anyway. Then they replace them with some cheap POS.
