Dstv HD channels sound

Don't know if anybody else has notice this but since the weekend some HD channels, when broadcast in Dolby Digital, there is no sound from the actors, well a feint noice when they speak. Yet the background noise is fine. When I switch the sound in the settings of the PVR back to normal it is fine.

Either that, or I know there were some major issues with the optical audio output a few weeks ago - the DSTv forums were ablaze with complaints. My 5.1 feed goes to the amp via coax, so I never noticed.

Like I said, I didn't really pay attention to the issue as it didn't affect me, but I noticed it in passing cropping up on the DSTv forums. If I recall some people had some success by resetting their PVRs to factory default...
 
It wasn't with optical, it was with audio over HDMI.
I would definitely look at your sound system as the problem if background sounds are working.
Does your DVD player etc work ok with surround sound?
