SO i got my new decoder (watch 1, record 2) on MOnday, and had it installed on tuesday. If i record, the recordings are very jerky. When i'm recording and i check the Tuner Status, it says the following

Tuner 1 - Signal Strength 100, SIgnal quality 100
Tuner 2 - Signal Strength 0, SIgnal quality 24
Tuner 3 - Signal Strength 0, SIgnal quality 25

Will this cause the problem ? I phoned DSTV and they sent some software upgrade... THey say if it doesnt solve the problem i must take the decoder in to check if the hard disk is not overheating

Any comments will be welcome

Try out http://forum.dstv.com/ for future DSTV queries

Which decoder do you have ? UEC (Silver) or Pace (Black) ?

What happens if you try to record the channel that you are currently watching ? Is the recording jerky as well ?

What LNB do you have ?

How is it installed, twin LNB + multiswitch / SatCR etc ?
Those signal % point towards a dodgy install. You should've checked recordings & signal % before letting the installer leave

Tuners 2 and 3 are only used when recording. So if nothing is being recorded, they will show a signal strength of zero.

My dstv signal strength shows 0% but the signal quality is 100%.

The picture is OK for a hdpvr but this is worrying me. any ideas?
