DStv only has space for 11 more channels — if it cuts four from E-tv

MultiChoice has hit back at eMedia's arguments over satellite bandwidth capacity being a reason for the pay-TV broadcaster dropping four E-tv channels from its DStv bouquets.

The companies are battling before the Competition Tribunal after eMedia complained about DStv cutting the eMovies, eMovies Extra, eExtra, and eToonz channels from its channel line-up.
 
Plenty of rubbish channels that no one watches.
DSTV needs to realise - it's about quality not quantity.

Then they really wouldn't be able to justify their pricing.

At least focusing on quantity they might stand a fighting chance, even if it's all crap.

I honestly can't see them running out of space in the next 5 years. Dstv isn't known to add channels and only replace or terminate them. Does this include channels like RT they were forced to cancel or is that space still included in the calculations?

This must be an old list a few of the channels aren't on DSTV anymore. Also a lot of those are filler channels, they basically come in the package for other channels.

My experience with them is they can just cut someone's favorite channel and then raise the prices.
Cant believe people support them so blindly over the years.
They could screen tele tubbies 24/7 and still have clients.

True - there are a few channels that are somewhat popular on the list.
But mostly listed more channels that few watch.

EDIT: I'm happy to updated if you provide details of good and bad channels.

Yep it's a 2021 list I found on the net that I could cut-edit-paste.
DSTV make it difficult to extract a list from their useless website - https://guide.dstv.com/ without having to type it up.

The point was there's plenty of rubbish that only a few people watch on DSTV.

This is an entirely pointless excercise. Satellite broadcasting is a dying medium.
Internet streaming, live and on-demand (via fibre etc) will entirely replace direct satellite broadcasting, probably by 2030 if not earlier. In many households it already has.
